Lane Furniture is one of America’s most popular furniture companies. In 1912, Ed Lane was encouraged to start up his own factory making wooden chests. This was after this father, John, bought a plant in Virginia. Ed only had a small amount of knowledge with furniture making, but became a success. Primarily, he was unsure how his furniture would be welcomed, and refused to put a name to his designs. They expanded in 1951 to include occasional tables. In 1956 it was case goods and in 1965 it was accent pieces. Later, in 1972, they expanded even further afield with the procurement of a reclining chair company in Mississippi.
