Wall-Hugger Recline

A wall hugger recliner or sometimes referred to as a zero clearance recliner is a reclining chair that can be placed within a few inches of a wall and will still recline. The benefit of wall huggers is that they optimize the space available by allowing one to set the chairs close to walls. The reclining mechanism on a wall hugger functions by moving the seat cushion (that you sit on) forward during the recline motion. By having a seat move forward, the back reclines, and the footrest extends out in front of the seating.

Most recliners include standard mechanisms where the seatback reclines without moving the seat cushion. This way, the back requires at least 15-20 inches of space, and the furniture cannot be placed close to any other objects behind it.

If you are looking for zero clearance theater seating, then you have come to the right place. Our selection of top brand names is mostly dominated by wall recliners because home theaters tend to be designed in rows, and you cannot have the front row reclining into the isle of the back row. Choose from a wide range of manual or power wallhugger recliners to best suit your needs. Every Octane home theater seat includes the zero clearance mechanism, and so do the majority of Palliser and Fortress chairs.
