Berkline Home Theater Seating

Berkline home theater seating earned its following the hard way. For decades Berkline was one of the most recognized names in American motion furniture, and its theater recliners built a reputation for packing serious features into a seat most families could actually afford. We have carried Berkline for years, and we still stock the model that made the line famous: the Berkline Tangiers 13175, with patented Zero Gravity recline, a power articulating headrest, bucket-style cushioning and a Wall Hugger frame, from $649 per seat. Build it as a single recliner, a straight or curved row, a loveseat or a full theater sofa.

What Berkline Theater Seats Are Known For

Berkline built its reputation on giving buyers features that normally sat two price tiers higher. If you have owned a Berkline recliner, these are the things you remember.

  • Zero Gravity recline. Berkline's signature. The mechanism raises your legs toward heart level and opens the angle between thigh and torso, spreading your weight across the whole seat instead of concentrating it at the base of the spine. It is the reason people sit through a three-hour film without shifting.
  • Wall Hugger space saving design. Berkline theater seats recline forward rather than backward, so they need inches of clearance instead of a foot. In a basement or a converted bedroom, that is often the difference between fitting three seats and four.
  • Power recline and power articulating headrests. Stop the seat anywhere you like, then set head and neck angle separately.
  • Chaise-style footrests. Continuous support with no gap at the knee.
  • Tall backs and cupholder arms. Real head support and a drink within reach, without the row growing wider than it needs to be.

Berkline Seating Configurations

Berkline theater seating is configurable, so you are never limited to a single chair. Order it as a single recliner, a straight row, or a curved row that angles every seat toward the screen. Rows run from two and three seats up to six, and you can drop the divider between two seats for a loveseat or run a continuous movie sofa layout instead.

Armless units add capacity without adding much width, which is how most Berkline rows were specified. Measure before you order using our room measuring guide, and if a second row is in the plan, read the riser planning guide.

About Berkline

Berkline started in 1928 in Springfield, Massachusetts and moved to Morristown, Tennessee in 1937, where it spent decades building reclining sofas, motion furniture and home theater seating. It became one of the best-known recliner names in the country, with its BenchCraft line covering stationary upholstery. In theater seating specifically, Berkline is remembered for engineering that punched well above its price.

Availability on Berkline models is limited to remaining inventory and moves quickly. Call 888-602-7328 or reach us through our contact page to confirm current stock and lead time before you plan a room around a Berkline row.
